Here are a handful of the the 2013 SEMA cars getting the boot from the Las Vegas Convention Center. Continue reading
I find myself sitting here writing this nostalgia piece because right now is the one year anniversary of Generation: High Output’s first trip to Las Vegas and our first trip to SEMA. I’ve said it before and you may be able to see it in the goings on of the site: We’re a small operation. That night one year ago, we all piled into a car halfway through the show’s run late Halloween night (So I could take my daughter on her first Trick-or-treat outing) and hauled ass into the cold, dark desert in the hopes of enjoying the last two days there and getting a taste of what SEMA was all about. Last year I wrote a detailed review of the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. This summer, I had a chance to get behind the wheel of a 2013 Malibu while on vacation. So what’s new with this year’s model? Actually, there’s quite a lot!
For 2013, the Malibu gets a big exterior redesign with a new front and rear end. The back has a chunky, muscular look with a recessed trunk lid while the front has a larger, more prominent grille and a bigger bow tie. But the changes are more than cosmetic, there have been some engine and interior enhancements as well.
I recently attended the annual Dayton (Ohio) Hamfest and as you cam imagine the antennas were out in full force. Some are clearly up just to seem goofy or ridiculous, others are dead serious. Whatever the case may be the ham folk have no shame. Continue reading
We had a blast covering the 2013 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction this year! Here is a video I made highlighting some of the things I saw at the auction, including lots of very cool cars. Hope you enjoy it!
For me, Thanksgiving is about more than just turkey: it’s also about cars. Every year the Arizona International Auto Show comes to town on Thanksgiving weekend. This show features the newest vehicles from dozens of manufacturers. You can sit in them, play with the knobs, and there are no sales people anywhere. My favorite part is going on test drives!
Last year, I drove four different turbocharged cars as well as a Chevrolet Volt and a Camaro SS convertible. This year, I broke my old record and went on seven test drives in one day! The cars I drove are as follows:
- 2013 Ford Mustang GT 5.0
- 2013 Lincoln MK-S
- 2013 Chevrolet Volt
- 2013 Kia Optima SX Limited
- 2013 Subaru Legacy CVT
- 2013 Dodge Challenger V6
- 2013 Dodge Charger Super Bee
- 2013 Hyundai Equus Signature
I’d like to take a moment to talk about each one, but first I want to go over some thoughts from the Auto Show itself. Attendance seemed down this year, it didn’t seem to be as busy as last year.
