Barrett-Jackson 2016: 1951 Cadillac Custom Roadster

1951-cadillac-deville-custom-roadster-rearThis car caught my eye while I was walking around the tents at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale this past January. The window sticker revealed frustratingly few details about this cool custom roadster.

From what I could tell, this car began life as a 1951 Cadillac DeVille and was at some point turned into a chop-top roadster. The engine has been swapped out for a Chevrolet LS V8 power plant with a 4L60E automatic transmission. The interior has been redone in tan leather while the exterior has been resprayed a laser red metallic color. Continue reading

The Presidential Limo Did Not Simply Bottom Out In Ireland (Cadillac DTS)

A few years ago there was a popular video making the rounds.  Maybe you’ve seen it, maybe you haven’t, if you haven’t here you go.

It seems pretty obvious what happened, after the BMW 7 Series scrapes out President Barack Obama’s limo takes a stab at it and completely bottoms out, more or less disabling itself.

Well, that’s not what happens at all, at least in my opinion.  Have a look at the wheel gap of the front wheels, the car is completely laid out.  I have scoured the internet looking for answers and some of them are pretty far fetched about what actually happens. Continue reading

2004 Cadillac Deville Convertible (Craigslist)

Better in theory best describes this professionally built custom convertible. Some cars just can’t pull it off no matter how much money or time is put into them, unfortunately this is one of those cases. It just looks kind of odd in pictures, maybe there is more to it when it’s right in front of you? Either way, it’s up for sale out in Scottsdale. Continue reading

1984 Cadillac Deville Flower Car (El Camino)

On the trip back from the SEMA show we spotted this 1984 Cadillac Deville Flower Car at a dealership in Wickenburg. The place seemed to be closed down for the day so any and all questions went unanswered. A quick search of the VIN shows that this car started out life in early 1984, as a 1984 Coupe Deville. It was equipped with a somewhat useless 4.1 V8, which I’m sure scooted a full bed of flowers along just fine. Continue reading

2000 Cadillac Deville DTS (Thermal) Night Vision System

Remember the commercials for Cadillac’s night vision system a few years back? Much like GM you probably forgot all about them. Well, the next time you spot a 2000-2005 Deville with what appears to be a stolen crest from its (dark grey) grill go in for a closer look, that’s where they mounted the camera for that night vision setup. I came across this one at Biosphere 2, which seems like the perfect place to spot old future-technology. The idea with this system was that for (only) $1,995 you could keep yourself aware of whatever night time danger may be ahead by projecting a live feed from a night shot camera onto your front window.
