SEMA 2013: Galpin Ford GTR-1 Supercar

In honor of its 100th anniversary, the Ford Motor Company produced a limited production supercar from 2004 to 2006. Known as the Ford GT, this mid-engined marvel had a production run of just 4,038 vehicles.

The folks over at Galpin Auto Sports wondered: what if Ford had kept making the GT? What would it look like today? Based on that concept, they created the GTR 1 supercar.

This amazing car is based on the Ford GT, but features some significant changes. Check out the video below to learn more about the Galpin Ford GTR-1.

SEMA 2013: Lingenfelter C7 Corvette Prototype

There was a lot of buzz at this year’s SEMA show about the new 2014 C7 Corvette. We met up with Jason Haines from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering to hear about some of the different packages they are working on for this car.

The team at LPE have not yet released the official numbers for their C7 Corvette performance kits. The car at their booth is a prototype, but it’s probably pretty close to what the final package will look like.

SEMA 2013: Bubble-top Impala

I’m currently in the media center at the Las Vegas Convention Center right now. In front of me a dude with a pony-nub is editing a video of Geoff Tate of Queensryche. Behind me, some British dude talking about American health care. You think there’d be a lot more of the car stuff going on, but you’d be wrong. I’ve finally found salvation from the madness of plastic body kits (on both cars and women) that is the SEMA show.

So to spit in the eye of all the new and exciting bullshit that you’re going to hear about non-stop everywhere else, I’d like to focus first on this beautiful B-body. Everyone loves a fullsize, but this W-series Chevy big block that resides under this hood is the real show stopper. Gorgeous archaic design philosophy at work.

Remembering SEMA 2012

I find myself sitting here writing this nostalgia piece because right now is the one year anniversary of Generation: High Output’s first trip to Las Vegas and our first trip to SEMA. I’ve said it before and you may be able to see it in the goings on of the site: We’re a small operation. That night one year ago, we all piled into a car halfway through the show’s run late Halloween night (So I could take my daughter on her first Trick-or-treat outing) and hauled ass into the cold, dark desert in the hopes of enjoying the last two days there and getting a taste of what SEMA was all about. 1951 Kaiser Manhattan Custom ‘Dragn’

As an automotive journalist, I am constantly on the lookout for cool cars to write about. Most of the time I have to work hard to seek them out, but every once in a while the cars seem to find me. This particular car and I keep running into each other, so I knew it was time to write about it.

I first ran into this heavily customized 1951 Kaiser Manhattan at Cars and Coffee in Scottsdale. I saw it again at SEMA 2012 in Las Vegas. Then it popped up on my YouTube subscriptions for Jay Leno’s Garage and the Eastwood YouTube channel. It was just begging to be written about!

SEMA 2012: 1969 Yenko Camaro

When I was walking through SEMA, this 1969 Yenko Camaro (apparently owned by Reggie Jackson) was just minding it’s own business at the Classic Industries booth. I did not see it, and I blame that not on myself, but on the absolute saturation of first and fifth generation Camaros there.
