Miniature Volkswagen Microbus: “Shorty”

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about Walter: The World’s Largest VW Microbus. Today I bring you the opposite: the smallest Type 2 Microbus!

This pint-sized VeeDub has had its mid-section chopped out, which leaves it with an extremely short wheelbase. It’s like a big go-kart for hippies!

The unique look of this vehicle was sure turning a lot of heads at the Scottsdale Pavilions car show the night I spotted it. Upon scanning the QR code on the van’s back window, I found out that “Shorty” is the automotive mascot for Arcadia Coffee Roasters, a local coffee roasting outfit.

The van sports a groovy turquoise and white paint job which gives it a very ‘Southern California’ look. Couldn’t you just see this thing parked at a beach or outside of the surf shop?

Volkswagen buses typically make great vehicles for camping or for going on road trips because of their interior room. This bus is no longer well-suited for those duties, but that’s fine. When you look this good, who cares?

So the bottom line is: Is shorter better? As the old saying goes, size doesn’t matter, it’s what you do with it that counts. This is one short bus that you won’t be embarrassed to be seen in. You can keep up with the latest news by visiting the official Shorty Bus Facebook page.
