SEMA 2015: Rezvani Beast

rezvani-beast-frontWith a name like “Beast,” it has to be good.

I spotted this unusual looking car on the show floor at SEMA 2015. Based out of Irvine, California, a company called Rezvani Motors is selling the “Beast” – a two seat, street legal rocket of a sports car similar to the Mazda Miata or Honda S2000, but with a huge bump in power. And I do mean huge.

The car begins with the carbon steel chassis of the Ariel Atom 3, which is then strengthened using additional bracing. While the Ariel Atom 3 is available with a 2.4L Honda K24 motor producing 234hp, the Rezvani Beast adds a Rotrex supercharger on top of that which boosts the engine’s output to 500 horsepower! Being an enthusiast car, the engine is coupled to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with limited slip differential.

Of course, the main question everyone wants to know is: how much does it weigh? According to Rezvani’s website, the car tips the scales at 1,650 LBS (750KG). That’s only 300 lbs more than the Ariel Atom, but with 266 more horsepower!

As you might imagine, the performance specifications are remarkable. The Beast does 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 165 miles per hour. That’s a hair above the Ariel Atom 3, which maxes out at 155 mph.

The exhaust ports on the rear of the car bear a stunning resemblance to the Porsche 918 supercar, giving it a very exotic look.

There is no trunk and no doors, leaving the driver and passenger to hop in “Dukes of Hazzard” style every time they go for a ride.

Then, there is the issue of price. The car starts at $159,000 USD – a significant bump up from the Atom 3, which starts at around $64,500 USD. That’s a lot of money to put down for sure, but this is also a hand-built automobile designed for high-performance driving, not a run-of-the-mill BMW or Audi here.

As a turn-key track day car, I think Rezvani has a great looking product with outstanding performance metrics. It was a real treat to get to see this car up close and personal at the SEMA show, and I hope to see more great stuff from these guys in the future!

If you can’t get enough of the Beast, it was recently featured on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. Check out the video below:
