2000 Cadillac Deville DTS (Thermal) Night Vision System
Remember the commercials for Cadillac’s night vision system a few years back? Much like GM you probably forgot all about them. Well, the next time you spot a 2000-2005 Deville with what appears to be a stolen crest from its (dark grey) grill go in for a closer look, that’s where they mounted the camera for that night vision setup. I came across this one at Biosphere 2, which seems like the perfect place to spot old future-technology. The idea with this system was that for (only) $1,995 you could keep yourself aware of whatever night time danger may be ahead by projecting a live feed from a night shot camera onto your front window.

The owner of this car seemed kind of weird. He was nice, but it seemed like he was really downplaying the car for some reason. I can’t understand why though, it sure seems pretty impressive to me. I mean, there’s a fucking gigantic hole cut out of the hood. I found a video on Youtube of him running a 10.24 in the 1/4 mile. That’s seriously fast for a car that starts out life as well, sorry to any of you MX-6/Probe fans, a little bit of a turd.

Obviously, this truck is all show, and obviously not an off-road vehicle; which would ordinarily set off my bullshit detectors and be the catalyst for an angry rant. Something about this truck, though, I don’t know if it’s the bad-ass American flags, or the well-proportioned (and often overlooked) tire-to-body ratio. I can’t really say, but I do know I like it. 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse
It takes somebody with a love of cars and a bit of a sense of humor to drive a hearse as a daily driver, and judging by the skeleton hanging in from the rear view mirror and the obscene amount of car magazines in the back, Don, the owner of the Fleetwood you see here, certainly appears to have both.
Electric Conversion VW Rabbit – Revisited

I was going through some of my photos and found this. It’s the same electric Rabbit that I posted about before, only this is a shot of it driving at 40th Street and Indian School. I had forgotten that I had this picture. It was taken long before I saw it at the Pavilions when I took the pictures for the other post. I now recall seeing it driving around in the Arcadia area all the time about two years ago. Hopefully it’s still driving, but I don’t live around there any more so I couldn’t tell you for sure.
From this photo, the motivation behind the electric conversion is pretty clear. Apparently, it was built in 1993 because “screw OPEC”.
