Arizona Concours d’Elegance 2017 Preview

arizona-concours-awardsAre you getting excited? The Arizona Concours d’Elegance is just three weeks away! The annual event, now in its fourth year, will be held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix on Sunday, January 15th, 2017. Whether you have attended before or are considering it for the first time, we’re going to give you a preview of what you can expect to see at the 2017 show.

Although this event takes place during Arizona Car Week (alongside Barrett-Jackson, Russo and Steele, and other collector car auctions), the Arizona Concours is NOT an auction event. The 90 automobiles on display are not for sale, but rather are entered in a judged competition. Report: Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2016

pebblebeach2016-01There is a cool breeze in the air and the sky is filled from horizon to horizon with grey clouds. It is Sunday, August 21st and I am standing on the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links – the greatest public golf course in America and one of the most famous in the world.

With each step, my shoes compress the neatly manicured grass – each blade perfectly uniform in color and length. But today, there are no putters and the only drivers are the owners of the 220 collectible vehicles parked on the fairway. I am at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – one of the most prestigious car shows in the world.

The Legacy Begins
From the first event in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours has blossomed from a small gathering into a major event featuring the world’s finest collector vehicles. It is the cornerstone of Monterey Car Week, which includes a number of car shows, road rallies, auctions, and events in the same area. If you attend one event in Monterey, it should be this one.

Report: 2016 Fountain Hills Concours d’Elegance

2016-fountain-hills-concoursOne of Arizona’s fastest-growing motorsports events is the Concours in the Hills in Fountain Hills. Now in its third year, this annual event has expanded considerably since it began in 2014. This year’s event took place on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Generation: High Output staff were on hand to cover the event.

Unlike other concours events such as Pebble Beach or Amelia Island, the Fountain Hills show distinguishes itself by being a casual, fun event geared towards families. Admission is free and the show is held on the grass at Fountain Park, which houses the world’s 4th tallest fountain (it was the tallest in the world when it was completed in 1970). 2016 Arizona Concours d’Elegance Delights Again

arizona-concours-2016The Arizona Concours d’Elegance returned to the Arizona Biltmore resort for its fourth consecutive year. Our team was on hand to cover the event, which took place on Sunday, January 24th, 2016. We would like to thank the Arizona Concours staff for giving us the opportunity to cover this wonderful show once again.

I have to say that having attended all of the previous events, the fourth annual Arizona Concours d’Elegance was the best yet! What began as a one-day show has now grown into a three-day event featuring panel discussions and special celebrity appearances.

Of course, one must also not forget about the cars! This year’s show featured 99 different vehicles representing all eras of automotive history, from an 1896 Benz Velo to a 1972 Ferrari. There were 16 different classes of vehicles, with a special class featuring the work of Carrozzeria Zagato, the famous Italian coachbuilder and design house founded in 1919. Continue reading →
