Whilst browsing the ol’ Youtube for 1st Gen Sable wagons I stumbled across this monstrosity. Although it’s certainly interesting and I can respect the work that went into it I would rank this as “better in theory”, at best.
Nothing says “mid-1970s” like a compact motorhome built on a full size van chassis. I spotted this retro camper and unfortunately did not have my real camera with me. So I have just one photo of this groovy cruiser.
TransVan was a line of Class B motorhomes produced by Champion in the 1970s and 1980s. You could get a Dodge-based model with a 360 V8 or a Chevy-based model with a 350 V8. They came in 17, 19, 21, and 23 foot lengths with two different interior configurations each. This particular one rides on a Chevrolet G30 chassis with dually wheels in the rear.
This kind of weight reduction is bound to give even the most progressive of ecomodders a full on rager. With 140 hp or so and a pretty bulletproof engine this three wheeled freakshow will most certainly keep you entertained for a while, at least until the transmission pops. Continue reading
Somehow I’ve stumbled across another one year only wagon, this is the 1982 Mercury Cougar wagon. It’s the sister car to the 1982 Granada wagon that I found a while back. I spotted this guy down near the Mexican border and the Granada out in California, I’ve never seen one around Phoenix. There’s always something special about seeing an older boring car out on the road for normal use.
On the trip back from the SEMA show we spotted this 1984 Cadillac Deville Flower Car at a dealership in Wickenburg. The place seemed to be closed down for the day so any and all questions went unanswered. A quick search of the VIN shows that this car started out life in early 1984, as a 1984 Coupe Deville. It was equipped with a somewhat useless 4.1 V8, which I’m sure scooted a full bed of flowers along just fine. Continue reading
I usually don’t post about things like this, but I thought this was pretty cool and I had to share it. I mean, everyone has heard of people running snowmobiles on the street and on sand (and even on water!), but usually they don’t look quite this ridiculous.
