When Ford bailed on the Country Squire wagon after 1991 they chose to replace it with nothing. They assumed everyone would move to a minivan or an SUV.. or buy a Caprice. Well, it’s been 22 years since then and there has yet to be a direct successor. It was apparently a good call as there doesn’t seem to be too much interest in such a car, with Dodge cancelling the Magnum and Cadillac apparently ditching the CTS wagon. Continue reading
The Week in Review
I apologize for the lapse in weekly coverage. Let’s take a look at what’s been going on this past week:
– We have new section for 0-60 acceleration and 1/4 mile times.
– I covered the worst of Barrett-Jackson 2013.
– We took a look at a ZR-1 painted like a Grand Sport for reasons unknown.
– Mike had a bone to pick with his food.. and a tastless GMT400.
– Bryan gave us a look at America’s first minivan, which was unsafe at any speed.
– Trevor provided us a video highlight of Barrett-Jackson 2013.
That’s it for now. Enjoy our weekend posts!
Video: Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2013 Highlights
We had a blast covering the 2013 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction this year! Here is a video I made highlighting some of the things I saw at the auction, including lots of very cool cars. Hope you enjoy it!
1961-65 Corvair Greenbrier Sportswagon (Corvair 95/Corvan)
You may recall my article a few days back regarding the Fiberfab GT40 kit car. Well, as it turns out that off fenced off parking area also contained a Corvair Greenbrier Sportswagon.. just out of frame (surprise). Whoever owns this land clearly has a thing for these cars, or just picked an odd vehicle for a donor motor (from which vehicle to which though?). Continue reading
Smoked Turkey Legs (1997 Chevy 1 Ton Dually Tahoe Long Bed Bullshit Thing)
I have been ready to blow like Mount St. Helens since the weekend of January 19th, 2013.
Why, you ask? Because although Barrett-Jackson was a blast and I saw a lot of really cool cars and got to hang out with the guys and make fun of everything and generally just be an asshole, there is a flip side- I’ve seen about all the 60’s muscle cars I can handle for the rest of my life, I hurt my foot, and worst of all, I got duped into buying a twelve dollar turkey leg.
Corvette Grand Sport ZR-1
I have to admit that at first I believed this to be a 1996 Corvette Grand Sport with a Lotus-designed 32-valve LT5 swapped in place of the (comparably) timid LT4. Looking back over the pictures, it’s obvious that this is a ZR-1 painted to look like a Grand Sport.
